Drew's birthday is right around the corner, so we had an impromptu photo shoot with his birthday boy hat. I thought they turned out pretty cute!

These next couple, he was turning circles looking for his hat, much like a dog chasing his tail!

I wanted a good one of him standing up, but every time he stood up, he headed straight for the camera. This is the best I could get. We may try again later. Every day he is getting more steady on his feet.

Of course, Sissy had to join in the fun. She sure does love her little brother!

Weekend at Gram & Grandpa's

Yes, Mommy got behind again. We spent one of our last weekends before school started back visiting Gram and Grandpa. We pretty much just hung out at the river and pool. It was a great weekend!

Ashtyn has been taking ballet during July. She really enjoyed it! Thanks to Gracie for the leatards so Mommy didn't have to buy them!!!

This kept Drew occupied and happy while sissy danced.

And finally, they had a summer class show for the parents. It was nothing like what I dread may be in the future (real dance recitals). We really just got to watch a class and got a glimpse of what they have learned. They wore the little skirts so the could move them as they walked around the hay.

First some stretching. Even I know how important this is!

I'm pretty sure this was Ashtyn's favorite part of the dance. She even sang along with the music!! Oooooh Ahhhhh Ohhhhh Ahhhh!

Daddy worked from home so he could go see Ashtyn's little show. Drew gives his approval.

The Last Day

Vacation Part 4 - Palm Beach

We went to Palm Beach a couple of times. It was good for the kids because it had lots of sand and not too deep of water. It also has a couple of water slides.

Ashtyn had to transport a lot of water. Since there are no waves or tide, the sand was really dry!

Drew isn't partial...he'll eat the sand pretty much anywhere!

She just couldn't be left out of getting buried!

Vacation Part 3 - The Aquarium

We went to the Aquarium at Moody Gardens. Ashtyn really liked watching the penguins since she has learned about them at school.

UhOh! Daddy and Ashtyn are in a shark cage...not sure Mommy likes this too much!

There were a couple of divers in one of the tanks. Ash was pretty interested in them since Gram and Grandpa love to scuba dive. The woman diver took interest in Ashtyn, too!

Vacation Part 2

After a full day, we went to Keemah to have dinner with some of Daddy's friends. Then we went to pet the rays. Check out the food they eat!!

Vacation Part 1

We headed from Nana and Poppie's house to Galveston for a few days. We decided to take the scenic route that involved the ferry. We had to wait quite a while on the ferry, so Ashtyn and I took a little walk.

Drew drove the car a little bit while we were waiting.

Our first full day of vacation, Aunt Andi met us and we went on a boat tour and saw some dolphins. Too bad we weren't quick enough to get any pictures of the dolphins!!!

Drew took advantage of this time to sneak a nap.

After lunch, we headed to the beach for the first time. This was the first of many "tastes" of sand for Drew. You would think we don't feed the kid!

Ashtyn just lit up at the beach! She loved playing in the sand the most.

The kids and I went to Seguin and headed each day to Saddle Ridge Ranch, VBS at Forest Hills Baptist Church. What a great time!!

The river was closed because of the flooding, but we got our water fix in Seguin at Aunt Pat and Uncle Larry's house. By the end of the week, Ashtyn was bravely jumping off the diving board! Way to go ASH!!!!

Memorial Weekend

We really enjoyed our long weekend. Grandmother came over for burgers and fun on Sunday.

On Monday, we went to a park with a water feature. So far, Drew hasn't been a big fan of the water. Don't quite understand that because he loves the bathtub! We tried the pool again later after the water warmed up and he liked it that time around!

Back at the house. Ashtyn may be a little prissy, but it looks like Drew may like to play ball! Not bad form for a baby! Maybe Boogie can teach him some skills.

Ok, so it's not a major milestone, but he can hold his own bottle and feed himself now! (He usually doesn't because he's too lazy or just doesn't want it badly enough)

We expect him to start crawling pretty soon. For now, he gets where he needs to by rolling and scooting. Still doesn't have any teeth, either.

After Ashtyn's birthday party, it was time for Drew's special day. It was his baby dedication at church. Really, it's our parent committment service, the time when we promise before our family, friends, church, and most importantly, God, to raise Drew in a way that is pleasing to Him.

The pictures of the actual service were really dark, but here are some of the crew that was able to attend.

Spring Break Fun

We had a mostly beautiful spring break week! We worked in the flower bed and hung out with our friends and neighbors, Harper and Will. It's so much fun to have neighbors to play with!

Ashtyn even helped me with the flower bed. She even held earth worms and played with roly polies! Maybe she won't be such a girly girl after all!!! (Of course, she was wearing gloves!)

Drew just enjoyed being outside.

BIrthday Weekend

Ashtyn had a busy birthday weekend. We all went to the zoo on Friday and then went to Rainforest Cafe for lunch on Saturday. You may notice a slight difference in our attire due to the drastic change in temp. from the 70s on Friday to the 30s on Saturday!

She got to open some presents from Mommy and Daddy on her birthday. Sorry to all of you that she refused to talk to on the phone! Guess we caught her early talking to Chandler!

Off to the zoo! She has always liked flamingoes for some reason. Maybe because they are pink!

I can't believe my baby girl just turned 3. Time sure flies by, and she is growing up so fast. She wanted to go outside on Saturday when it was super cold and told me, "It's ok, Mommy, I'll keep you warm." She has brought so much to our lives over the past 3 years that it's difficult to remember life without her!

First Bites

Drew is 4 months old and after months of mama milk and a little formula, he got to try his first bite of food. He wasn't very interested at first, but before long was diving in for the spoon full! He wants to eat it, but just doesn't know what to do with it once it's in his mouth. Each bite comes out and gets put back in an average of 4 times before we give up and try another bite.

Record Snow

So, I have lived in Texas my whole life, and in north Texas for the past 15 years. I have NEVER seen anything like this before. Maybe that's because we officially got 12.5 inches of snow in a 24 hour period, the most in 111 years! It started around 3am on Thursday and continued ALL day long. Yes, we went to school and work on Thursday, but hardly anyone worked on Friday!

Instead, this is what we did!

The girls didn't last very long in the cold, but they did have some fun in the snow.

Drew slept through most of the fun, but did wake up in time to get his picture made with the snowman.

So, here are a few pics of things around the house. May give some perspective on how much there really was.

Even after our very amateur attempt at shoveling, we still couldn't get the car up the driveway.

Late Friday morning we ventured out. Things were getting a little chilly in our house after the electricity had been off for 5 hours and counting! Still lots of snow, but the roads were clear.

So, we were actually at Nana and Poppie's house for Christmas. We opened presents on Christmas Eve and on Christmas morning! What fun!!

Poppie is getting used to having kids around! Guess he doesn't have much choice.

Christmas #1

Ok, I'm finally going to show you my pictures from Christmas. It really was a "season" this year, not just a day. I really had a good time.

First, Gram and Grandpa came up and had Christmas with me and Thatcher a little early. This is us waiting on Thatcher to get there.

Let's get started already! Think we have enough presents? I'm not sure what spoiled means, but I hear that word sometimes!

"It's the most wonderful time of the year!"

Gram and Grandpa are in town and we went to see all the Christmas lights last night. It was so much fun! There were lights everywhere we looked. Some were angels, elves, gingerbread men, and even tractors, the twelve days of Christmas and the whole nativity scene.

I rode the carousel, but I didn't like it much.

And then...guess who's lap I sat in? Yep, no crying at all! I kind of like the big guy after all! I actually got to see him 2 times, once at the lights and then we went to my school and he was there! What magic!

Once again, we headed to the Hometown Holidays celebration in our lovely town of Mansfield. It was REALLY cold this year! I did make a trip through the big inflatable.

They aren't Rudolph, but they are real, live reindeer!!!

Drew made his first trip to Seguin to meet Mommy's extended family. We were only there a couple of days, but fit a lot of fun in! We went to visit Grandma for lunch. She already came to our house to meet Drew, but was excited to get to see us again.

Grandpa took me fishing. I'm not going to lie...I was REALLY wanting to go fishing, but was ready to go in after about 20 seconds! He made me stay out there longer and caught a fish on my pole. It might look like a smile, but it's a scream of fear and disgust! Sorry Grandpa!

Later on, the whole crew came over so they could meet Drew. This is Cheney, the oldest of Grandma's great grandkids.

Last, but not least, we went trick or treating on our street. Harper and I went together again this year, and we did good!

OUR LITTLE PUMPKIN

Drew was a giraffe for Halloween, and the cutest giraffe I've ever seen!

First we went to a Fall Festival at a nearby church. I had lots of fun there!

Mommy and Daddy think I'm still too young to help actually "carve" a pumpkin, so we did this as an alternative.

We got to have a Halloween party at school. We all dressed up in the morning for trick or treating, but they changed our clothes by party time.

Visit from Grandma

Grandma (Gram's Mommy) came up all the way from Seguin just to meet Drew. We were so glad to see her! Uncle Ernie (Gram's brother) came all the way from California...well ok, maybe he happened to be in Seguin, but he drove Grandma up here. Thank you both for coming!

Uncle Mike even brought Thatcher down so he could see Grandma.
